geometry environment relationship

Sam Roloff’s abstract works range from an almost hypnotic reference to the landscape, to geometric shapes that suggest architecture, construction, and the substrates of interiors and the urban environment

With rich colors, as well as stark blacks and whites, each painting carries through the theme of ‘back-story’.

There is a reference to time passing and the daily undercurrents of thought, phrases, connections, missed opportunities, and triumphs that make up the human experience.

women of portland

This series of portraits is built on the premise that each person has a unique story that informs the present.

Inspired by the dynamic and beautiful women of Sam Roloff’s adopted home, each portrait expresses the spirit of the subject and is a tribute to women all over the world who lead, support, create, and enlighten.
